So, you’ve taken the plunge into the adrenaline-pumping action of Call of Duty’s new battle royale mode and are looking to be a dominant force to be reckoned with as soon as possible. Fret not, for we’ve taken the guesswork out of your trial and error sessions by presenting you with 4 of the best Warzone tips to help you and your squad perforate the competition.
Survive alone, survive together
It goes without saying that one of the most important battle royale concepts is plopping down into a heated battlefield with another 99 bloodthirsty opponents and trying to come out on top. Warzone is no different. With only two other players covering your back, the feeling of being surrounded with a loaded rifle waiting around every corner quickly sinks in. It’s important, therefore, to put your squad’s survival as a top priority amongst all other Warzone tips.
Just because you hear a firefight going on in the distance, doesn’t mean you should go racing towards the fray leaving your teammates scratching their military-grade helmets. Assessing situations together and choosing the right time to jump in as a team can mean the difference between scoring some vital kills and a trip to the Gulag.
Even though money is collected individually, a squad can pool their resources together for the collective good. Better gear means better chances at survival so communicating your accumulated wealth and loadout can help your team make good decisions on who needs resources more. Ending up with one playing being the weakest link could spell doom quicker than you think.
It’s a nosedive race to the ground
Parachuting your way to the battlezone is a staple of BR games out there and Warzone, naturally, makes use of the same mechanic…with a few twists. For starters, you can deploy your chute whenever you want to descend slowly, allowing you to inspect your chosen landing spot. On top of that, the game allows you to cut the cord so that you can fall faster and then pop your parachute out again. Even better, you can keep doing this until you hit the ground.
This Warzone tip is being used by almost every player at the moment to get to their chosen landing zone as quickly as possible. You’ll, therefore, want to master this one as soon as possible if you don’t want to be picking out from scraps.
Lock and Load…out
We mentioned earlier in this post that Call of Duty Warzone has a cash economy which is one of the aspects that make it a unique battle royale experience. As you cunningly lurk around the battlefield, dropping foes, searching buildings and fulfilling contracts (more on that in the next Warzone tip), you will build up a stash. Once you’ve saved up enough, you can hit up a Buy Station to purchase resources and boons from Armor Plates to Precision Airstrikes and UAVs.
While these boons might seem tempting to go all-in on, it’s a good idea to have at least one of your squadmates save up for a Loadout Drop. Particularly powerful during the late game – a tactic used by pro players – a Loadout Drop will allow all of your squad to pick out from one of your standard multiplayer loadouts, complete with all customizations!
It’s in your contacts
Accumulating the requisite $6000 for a Loadout Drop Marker might seem like an insurmountable task, but luckily Warzone has you covered with another unique mechanic – contracts. As you roam around the battlefield, you will come across three different types of these big payout opportunities: Scavenger, Bounties, and Recon.
Scavenger will drop pins on three boxes filled with loot for you to find. Pick up all three and you will be handsomely rewarded with so nice cash. Bounties, on the other hand, will mark a specific player for you to take out. Take them out and the reward is yours. Finally, Recon locates a specific point on the map which you need to stand on until it’s under your control before it showers you with money.
As you can see, contracts are a great Warzone tip to take advantage of, not just because of the loot and cash but also because it gives you goals to shoot for, both figuratively and literally.
